CPSU USyd General Staff Members Endorse New Enterprise Agreement

University of Sydney CPSU members met on the 16th of September to hear a summary of the proposed 2009-2012 Agreement and to vote on the CPSU’s position of endorsement. The following resolutions were passed by members who voted in person, via teleconference and via proxy: "This meeting of CPSU members endorses The University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2009-2012." "This meeting of CPSU members commits to campaigning for the adoption of a stand-alone General Staff Enterprise Agreement to succeed The University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2009-2012."
The University has indicated that it will shortly make the Agreement available electronically to staff, before a ballot of all staff is conducted as required by the Fair Work Act 2009. If a majority of staff vote in favour of the Agreement it will be checked and ratified by Fair Work Australia upon which time the CPSU can apply to be party to it. The gathering of members also gave a resounding thanks to the CPSU General Staff Bargaining Team of Grant Wheeler, David Brown and Tina Stanhope for their tireless efforts in the negotiation process which began almost a year to the day of it being endorsed.
