January 2012             Thank a CPSU Member for another 2% Pay Rise!

2% Pay Rise for Professional Staff‡
and there will be another 2% pay rise paid in July 2012

The CPSU UNSW Branch have provided the framework for Professional staff members to represent our interests at this University for over 50 years and this pay rise is another achievement made possible by the support from fellow CPSU members.

Professional Staff work for the whole University community and we are the backbone that holds everything together. Students, Graduates and Academics are all scholars, provided with joint ownership of the University with each having their own representative body for their respective interests.

The CPSU provides the framework for your specialist UNSW Staff Association for Professional / General Staff. Along with being be largest General Staff union on campus, we are networked throughout the state and country and are the largest network of general staff members in public education. In NSW alone, your fellow 15,000 members are in every University, TAFE and School.

We operate as a democratic, member focused Association with each university branch deciding for themselves what they want for their workplaces. When you Join your CPSU Branch you become part of the UNSW Professional Staff Network and contribute to all decisions that effect you in your workplace. With hundreds of CPSU member working together, we can achieve improvements and changes that benefit all of us, such as:

25% Casual Loading

Greater job security for new Professional Staff positions

Strong conversion processes for casual and fixed term Professional Staff

Availability of permanency for Professional Staff in externally funded Research Centers

Domestic Violence Leave & additional support provisions

4% pay rise each year (2 x 2%, total of 19.5% + $1,000* from the end of the last Professional Staff Collective Agreement)

And a whole lot more improvements based on what CPSU members at UNSW asked for and worked together to achieve for each other
