Outcomes from Enterprise Bargaining Meetings 15/9/08 & 16/9/08

1) The University has agreed to provide each of the CPSU bargaining team delegates with 4 days time release per fortnight, two of which will be for face-to-face bargaining.
2) The University has agreed that they will not withhold any information which is relevant to EB.
3) The University has logged separate General and Academic Staff agreements. This is in line with what CPSU members have endorsed in your log of claims. Please sign our petition to show your support on this important issue.
4) The parties spoke to and clarified their respective logs and then systematically identified and prioritised issues within the current Agreement for discussion and review.
5) The University agreed to the CPSU request to bargain fortnightly. The next meetings will be the 29th and 30th of September.
6) The CPSU will initially be focussing on re-writing the following clauses in line with your log of claims:
    •  (7) Definitions
    •  (15) Flexible & family working arrangements
    •  (21) General Staff Classification
    •  (25) Annual Leave
    •  (29) Family & Community Leave
    •  General Staff Workload (new clause to be created)
    •  (52 & 53) Overtime

The above clauses will be provided to the University by the middle of next week, and will be discussed at the next General Staff bargaining meeting.

Where to next?

Action Items for Members

Why separate agreements are better

BlackTick Separate agreements allow both general staff and academic staff to maintain the right to self-determine their respective conditions of employment.
BlackTick Separate agreements recognise the very substantial differences between the nature of the work performed by most academic staff compared with that of most general staff.
BlackTick Separate General Staff Agreements consistently deliver better outcomes for general staff.
BlackTick It means that general staff conditions cannot be traded off against academic conditions.
