CPSU SETS OUT ITS AGENDA FOR BARGAINING TO COMMENCE
The combined Staff Consultative Committee met on 29 July 2009 to discuss how bargaining for new agreements would proceed. The CPSU Bargaining Team attended this meeting.
It was agreed that the CSCC will continue to meet as currently constituted while bargaining proceeded separately.
The University advised that they were prepared to begin the bargaining process towards 3 new separate Enterprise Agreements to replace the current agreements, starting that day with an announcement to all staff.
The CPSU argued that there should be separate negotiations for the General Staff Agreement, and proposed that the initial bargaining meeting start by identifying clauses in the Agreement in three categories: with no or minor change, relatively minor agreed change; and core claims and new items. The University wishes to negotiate on common clauses.
The CPSU agreed to meet on Wednesday, 26 August subject to agreement on agenda and elements of resourcing being reached.
As previously advised, CPSU members should note that they need take no action in respect to the University’s notification of bargaining. The Fair Work Act provides that union members are presumed to be represented by the union.
Therefore as you are a member of the CPSU you are automatically represented by your union without the need to submit any form or respond in any way to the notification. Non-members who wish to be represented are encouraged to join the CPSU.
