Your Bargaining Team met with the
University on 21st July and 4th August

We are currently in discussion about a number of clauses:

Workloads

The CPSU is fighting to ensure protections for employees in resolving excessive workload situations, with a practical independent review of General Staff workloads. We are close to agreement on this clause.

Overtime

We are still in negotiation regarding overtime payments for part time staff. The CPSU is seeking a fairer situation for part-time employees, equitable with the situation for full-time employees, when they are required to work beyond their normal hours. The parties are still looking for acceptable wording for this clause.

Change management

The CPSU is seeking to protect employees’ rights not to be forced into a position which is not acceptable to them if their position no longer remains in a restructure. There is strong resistance from the University, who assert the right to move people into “acceptable alternative employment” which meets industrial standard test case criteria such as level, location and similar duties. We have a long way to go on this clause because of the fundamentally different positions of the parties.

The next clauses for consideration by the campaign committee are:
  • Clause 9 — Dispute Resolution
  • Clause 16 — Fixed Term employment

WhiteTick We will soon be running a Love Our Leave campaign very shortly to get your input on the leave clause to make sure we are able to represent everyone’s views at the bargaining table. Look out for the “Love our Leave” (LOL) Booths where you can come and tell us why your leave is important to you. Keep an eye out for this one, its going to be a fun campaign!
