UNSW General Staff Demand "Summer of Love" in Collective Bargaining
PRESS RELEASE
General Staff across the University of NSW (UNSW) today are launching their “Love Our Leave” Campaign in support of their UNSW General Staff Enterprise Agreement 2010, following the Woodstock theme in celebration of the 40th Anniversary.
Focus Groups conducted by the CPSU showed that protecting and improving leave entitlements is a top priority of General Staff at UNSW.
For this round of Collective Bargaining the UNSW Branch of the CPSU is implementing a pro-active & fin campaign. This will include:
- A Video Petition with UNSW General Staff saying why we "Love Our Leave";
- A Love Our Leave survey, for general staff to let us know what leave they want more of;
- The One Thousand Christmas Card Petition, in support of our CPSU Claim for Christmas Shutdown Leave with CPSU Santa delivering the Card Petition to UNSW; and
- More fun campaign activities to come!
Adrianne Harris, CPSU-UNSW Campaign Co-ordinator says: “Our members have told us they want a campaign which is not just based on the traditional industrial disputes & strike action model. Members want a modern union with innovative strategies. This campaign will show the UNSW a new approach to bargaining”.
Ms Harris continues, “Our Love Our Leave Campaign will help UNSW General Staff demonstrate support for improved leave & protection of leave entitlements, which the University will find hard to ignore! We are drawing on inspiration from the past to find innovation for the present, and remembering that industrial action is always available as a last resort”.
