Enterprise Bargaining Meeting # 9, 1 September 2009

Bargaining between the UNSW and the CPSU continued on Tuesday 1 September. The following clauses were discussed:

Overtime

We hope we are clause to agreement on this. The University has agreed to consider including in the agreement a loading for part-timers when they are required to work more than their normal hours in a day or week. The University will also consider a revised clause in relation to the 10 hour break.

Workload

The CPSU and UNSW are pretty much agreed on a new workload clause. Our workload clause enshrines the principle of a reasonable workload for all General Staff at UNSW, and provides a practical process for employees to raise workload issues with their managers.

Managing Change

Still subject of serious negotiation. The University has agreed to the CPSU insertion of a trial period in the case of forced transfers, however not with all the conditions we require. They have rejected many of our claims on managing change.

Recently we have been asked why the Campus Backbone?

The backbone symbolises an interlocking agenda; recognising that General Staff are the axis around which the University functions and recognising the central cohesive source of support and stability that the General Staff Union provides. It’s about fortitude and determination and empowering General Staff to stand up for our rights at work and progressive values.

Remind a friend we are the backbone of UNSW and ask them to join the CPSU.
