New General Staff and ELC Teachers Enterprise Agreement: THE VOTE

CPSU members at UNE recently had a chance to view the new Enterprise Agreement that is being offered to all General Staff and ELC Teachers, and voted unanimously to accept it.

This Friday, ALL General Staff will have their chance to vote on the same agreement.

It is important that you take part in the electronic ballot on Friday, regardless of whether you are a union member or not.

If you are unable to access the electronic ballot on Friday, contact HR staff NOW to vote using a paper form to ensure that you still have your say.

Why did CPSU members vote unanimously to support this agreement?

What's new and improved?
  • a 17% pay increase (compounded over the life of the agreement, with 4% backdated)
  • a separate agreement for general staff (which means we don’t have to wait until academic bargaining is concluded to get our pay rises and improved conditions)
  • Time Off in Lieu at overtime rates
  • A General Staff workload protection clause (for the first time at UNE)
  • Vastly improved classification clause
  • Strong Workplace Change Protections which maintain redundancy payments
  • 2 weeks paid partner leave (increased from 1 week paid leave, plus 6 weeks unpaid)
  • The ability to buy more annual leave
  • Trade union rights (the first university to reintroduce full union rights)
  • Intellectual Property rights for General Staff
  • Paid relocation costs
  • Greater protections in the suspension clause
  • New transfer clause prevents transfer of General Staff without consultation
  • Increased superannuation for fixed term employees
  • Increased severance pay for fixed term employees
  • Limits on the use of fixed term contracts
  • Long service leave for casuals
  • 25% casual loading
Above all, we did not lose any conditions including:
  • Uncapped Sick Leave (the best in the sector)
  • 5 weeks annual leave (the best in the sector)
  • Paid Christmas Break (the best in the sector)
  • 30% On Call Allowance (the best in the sector)
  • Redundancy payouts

The conditions above may be status quo but they are some of the best in the sector and CPSU fought hard to keep them that way.

Have a look for yourself !!

Compare Old and New

A Yes vote at the all General Staff ballot on Friday is the best way to ensure that these fantastic conditions will be yours.

What happens if it is a NO vote??

Then it's back to step one on the entire agreement, with no pay rises in the near future until another agreement is negotiated.

Got a question??
