EB6 Financial Briefing and Meeting No. 2

Your UTS CPSU EB6 bargaining team received a UTS Financial briefing from Professor Peter Booth and Ms. Anne Dwyer on Monday 24 August 2009.

The tone was cautiously optimistic, with the challenges of the building program, managing the budget surplus, Government policy affect on our intake of students, domestic and international student loads, external forces i.e. potential volatility in international student numbers and the recovery from the global financial crisis. The UTS CPSU EB6 team appreciated the time made available to us by Professor Booth and Ms Dwyer.

The CPSU received verbal responses to the log of claims and our resources document.

You can read the log of claims here.

You can read our resources document here.

Topics discussed included: casuals, outsourcing, costing of leave, length of agreement, sign on bonus, access to part-time or job share positions, leave purchase, workloads and change management, workloads and Faculty mergers, position description evaluation, fee waivers for UTS staff enrolled in UTS courses, and annual travel passes which HRU are currently investigating the possibilities.

After some negotiation the university is open to our recommendations towards part-time/job share and grievance process.

The University has yet to submit their log of claims in writing. Your UTS CPSU EB6 team is confident that future meetings will be productive and cordial.

Find out more about YOUR local UTS CPSU Branch Committee or about joining the CPSU.

Our next EB6 meeting is scheduled for 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Thursday 3rd September 2009.

cently we have been asked why the Campus Backbone?

The backbone symbolises an interlocking agenda; recognising that General Staff are the axis around which the University functions and recognising the central cohesive source of support and stability that the General Staff Union provides. It’s about fortitude and determination and empowering General Staff to stand up for their rights at work and progressive values.

Remind a friend they are the backbone of the CSU and ask them to join the CPSU.
