Enterprise Bargaining Report

Your CPSU Bargaining Team met the University on Tuesday 13 October to continue bargaining discussions.

The following Clauses were discussed:

Overtime

The University is still to confirm the loading for part time staff who work more than their ordinary hours of work in a week.

Workloads

The University is still considering the CPSU workload clause.

Leave Clauses

We tabled a new Defence Force Leave Clause, as well as a new Parental Leave and Carers Leave clause.

The carers leave clause seeks to extend carers leave provisions for those with wider kinship and cultural networks currently not recognised by the University. The defence force leave clause seeks to incorporate the Employer Supported Payments for Defence Force Reservists who require additional time to participate in required Reservist activities. The University has yet to formally respond to the three leave clauses tabled.

Change Management

After extensive negotiations regarding the change management clause, the CPSU had thought we were close to agreement on the clause, however, during this bargaining meeting, the university hinted that it will be producing a new draft for discussion at future meetings.

Disputes

The University is yet to provide a comprehensive response to the CPSU clause.

Shutdown & Christmas Card Campaign

After such a great response to our Christmas card campaign, we have sent cards to all UNSW staff and asked them to participate in our campaign. Cards have been rolling in and we will present these at a future Enterprise Bargaining Meeting.

The good work of CPSU members and activists is paying off. For the third month in a row we have seen a significant increase in membership. General staff understand the benefits of joining the CPSU.

The CPSU listens to members and we pursue the issues that really matter to general staff at UNSW.

If you are not already a member of The General Staff Union there has never been a better time to join.

The CPSU is the specialist general staff union and the largest union in Australia representing general staff.

We are completely dedicated to the best interests of general staff and provide a truly local and democratic voice for you to work together to achieve and maintain a fair and safe workplace, better pay and improved rights at work.
