Meeting was held on Wednesday 7 October 2009, the Chancellery

Your CPSU Bargaining team met with the University for the next round of bargaining. We made good progress with finalising five clauses and have made some progress towards finalisation of others.

The Emergency Services Leave clause was discussed at length with the CPSU successfully negotiating an improvement to the current clause. After some lengthy negotiations on the Study Leave clause all parties were unable to come to an agreed position and the University will revise its version of the draft for further discussions at the next meeting. The CPSU were keen to strengthen the Occupational Health and Safety clause by reinstating much of the content of the 2004 version of the clause and introducing some new content. The University was open to our suggestions and will re-table a revised version of the draft to incorporate some of our suggestions. The Jurors Leave clause is still being considered by the University in terms of its workability from an HR position. The University is to report back at the next meeting and hopefully we can finalise this clause then.
