Enterprise Bargaining Update No. 8

|
Your CPSU Bargaining Team met with the University on 4 November 2009. Our focus at this meeting was on the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Employment Clause. The CPSU team was joined by Bronwyn Kendrigan – ITAS co-ordinator from the Wollotuka Institute. Bronwyn’s intimate knowledge of indigenous issues formed a strong basis for discussions regarding this clause. We agreed in principle on the Indigenous Language Allowance, Indigenous Leave, and Selection & Recruitment sections. Other matters, seen as affecting or affected by the Indigenous Employment Strategy 2010-2012 due to be submitted this Friday 6 November to BATSIET, would depend on a review and report back by indigenous representatives for a further bargaining session on 2 December. Your Bargaining Team has asked that at the next meeting we discuss issues around the format and structure of the Agreement with relation to grouping of clauses and timely and contextual negotiation of related clauses, scheduling of future meetings with regard to Christmas and the New Year, and financial issues regarding University budget processes and the timing of a monetary offer. The table below shows the status of Clauses brought to the table or scheduled to be brought to the table so far.
The next EB meeting is scheduled for 18 November 2009.
