Reasons to Join the CPSU
1. Wages
Union members earn on average $118 a week more than non-union employees. Union members also get better paid leave entitlements are better trained, have better working conditions, more job security and work fewer hours.

You have more say in your working hours when you're in a union.
3. Working Conditions
The CPSU has a long and proud history of improving and defending the rights of its members. The following conditions have been won by the CPSU: Antidiscrimination provisions; paid parental leave; family leave; paid overtime; annual leave; flexi time; redundancy pay; redeployment provisions; and long service leave. Employers have never just handed out entitlements.

6. Health & Safety
Union workplaces are safer workplaces. One of the main priorities of the CPSU is to ensure the safety of members at work. Bullying, harassment and work overload are OH&S issues. The CPSU actively works to ensure universities are free from workplace bullying and that workloads are fair and reasonable. The CPSU provides expert OH&S advice and representation to members. The CPSU campaigns on workplace safety and encourages workers to be actively involved in raising issues about OH&S.

The CPSU provides specialist and expert training for CPSU members. We help you to have a say in the way you are trained, how to best perform your job and in the recognition of your skills and qualifications.
